Kingston IronKey

IronKey subsidised and deployed by US government

In 2005, IronKey was founded in California. The US federal government partly funded this establishment with a $1.4 million grant. The US government has deployed IronKey products in several areas. Since 2011, we have worked with the Dutch government to get two IronKey models (x200 and x250) certified and these were recommended to be used for classification level RESTRICTED (Departementaal Vertrouwelijk).

IronKey acquisition by Imation

In September 2011, IronKey was acquired by Imation. The products continued under the same name and later IronKey hard drives were added to the IronKey family.

IronKey USB acquisition by Kingston and DataLocker

In early 2016, Kingston announced that it had acquired USB flash technology from IronKey and assets. In addition, DataLocker acquired the IronKey Enterprise Management Service (EMS), external hard drives and all technical engineers from Imation.
