How does Mic-Lock work?

Every device with a microphone input has one audio IN. Mic-Lock integrates seamlessly with all devices, ensuring that only one audio IN source can be active at a time. Multiple audio IN sources are not supported by any device (as of May 2024). Additionally, you can simply place your mobile phone with a Mic-Lock adapter on the speaker, and the audio source will automatically switch, temporarily disabling the Mic-Lock. This smart functionality ensures a seamless and flexible operation, allowing you to continue using your mobile phone without any issues.

MOSFET technology

Unlike other 3.5 mm jack microphone blockers, Mic-Lock uses patented MOSFET technology to send the correct electrical signal. This allows your device to recognize it as a valid audio-IN peripheral. Mic-Lock is the only provider with MOSFET technology, built on a unique 3-band housing design and an epoxy-coated circuit board, making it virtually impossible to hack or copy the technology.

User-friendly products: intuitive and no configuration required

Mic-Lock products are effective and user-friendly. Plugging in and unplugging the Mic-Lock acts as a simple on/off switch, allowing you to quickly and easily activate the unique microphone blocker when you need privacy. This intuitive operation makes it a breeze to use, without the need to worry about complicated settings or configurations.

Does a dummy headset do the same as Mic-Lock?

A dummy headset or an old pair of headphones does not provide the same protection as Mic-Lock. Modern personal communication devices do not recognize two wires as a valid audio source. To be recognized as a valid audio source, an electrical signal is required. The seamless audio switch between internal and external audio is managed by the device's digital mixmaster, which assigns the audio signal. The device cannot switch to nothing. Mic-Lock provides the signal of silence (MOSFET technology) back to the device. In short, a dummy headset or an old pair of headphones will not work because modern devices require an electrical signal to properly manage the audio. Mic-Lock, on the other hand, effectively blocks the microphone signal, ensuring your privacy and security.

"Hey Siri" still works!

When "Hey Siri" is enabled in the settings, iOS remains active for your "Hey Siri" voice recognition. With the Mic-Lock engaged, Siri will start up, but no commands will be sent. Enabling "Hey Siri" is a global system command that is always on. If you say "Hey Siri, schedule an appointment" or "set a timer," the Siri icon on the screen will spin and then return to the last active app after a timeout. Although the iPhone will hear "Hey Siri," no tasks or commands will follow. Mic-Lock becomes the active microphone on the system audio input, causing Siri to "hear" the various app commands. We recommend not enabling "Hey Siri" unless you are driving or need hands-free assistance. Unplugging and reconnecting the Mic-Lock will restore the Mic-Lock as the active audio IN source and resume the Mic-Lock security.

Epoxy-filled Mic-Lock: Protection and security for your electronic components The manufacturing process of the Mic-Lock is designed to ensure the integrity and safety of the electronic circuits. The product is assembled and tested multiple times. If it passes the tests, the housing is filled with the correct amount of epoxy, and the port in the housing is placed. Then, the entire assembly is cured and tested again before final inspection and packaging. The epoxy around the circuit is clearly visible in the image. To see the contents of the Mic-Lock, one would have to saw the product in half. However, this would damage the components, making reverse engineering impossible. The epoxy filling process is a way to protect and secure the exact design. This unique manufacturing technique provides the Mic-Lock with a reliable solution for securing sensitive electronic circuits.
